Aims and Achievements

Aims of the CQBA


·  To promote Leicester as a city and the Cultural Quarter’s role within the city.
       
  • To promote and represent the interests of all businesses within the Cultural Quarter.
  • To engage with the diverse communities of Leicester and ensure that the Cultural Quarter is promoted as an inclusive area in which to live, work and play.
  • To become the single point of communication for the business community of the Cultural Quarter for internal communication with neighbours and colleagues and for external communication with outside bodies.
  • To contribute to making the Cultural Quarter a vibrant, successful area of the city and to acknowledge our responsibility as businesses to do so.
  • To encourage partnerships between the Cultural Quarter and other areas of the city and county, other cities in the region and all the relevant authorities.
Past Achievement

-          Vision presented in the open meeting in March 09
-          The name ‘Cultural Quarter’ has been adopted by the city council
-          The city council has funded the Cultural Quarter branding process
-          The wider community becoming aware of the Cultural Quarter and CQBA
-          Membership has grown by 50%
-          Held the first St George’s Day festival in the Cultural Quarter thanks to LCC events team
-          The Cultural Quarter Weekender 24th and 25th October thanks to a core team of CQBA
-          Raised funding for Leicester in Bloom and working in partnership
-          Continuing to build relationships
-          The Joint Action Group is keen to support CQBA and has given financial some support
-          The Leicester Mercury continues to be supportive of our aims
-          Shop fronts grant funding
-          Reduction in Business Rates
-          Increased security with installation of CCTV

Joining CQBA

CQBA is always keen to welcome new members, the greater the number, the stronger our collective voice when we need to lobby for change. The wider the variety of businesses and trades the better the experience we are as a group and the better informed we are. 

All member subscriptions are renewed by each AGM (annually in October).

Membership is open to businesses within the Cultural Quarter at £50 per annum with full voting rights. Associate membership is open to businesses within the LE1 catchment area at £25 per annum, however, there is not voting rights.
